Julian Blank obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems from Otto von Guericke University in 2014. He was a visiting scholar at Michigan State University in 2015 and later earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from Otto von Guericke University in 2016. During his Ph.D. studies in Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University, he gained recognition as the lead developer of pymoo, an influential open-source Python framework for multi-objective optimization. Blank's research interests encompass evolutionary computation, multi-objective optimization, surrogate-assisted optimization, and machine learning, areas where he has made notable contributions. After completing his doctorate in 2022, he transitioned into industry and currently works as an Applied Scientist II at Amazon, applying his expertise in optimization and machine learning.
